Hace décadas el periodismo sólo fue un oficio, lo que para muchos aún lo es porque se cree que no es una ciencia o profesión. Cada uno se queda con el término más conveniente según el caso. No obstante, además de ser una técnica para manejar información, creo que es una manera bastante práctica en nuestros tiempos. Gracias a la expansión de los medios de comunicación y a los avances de la tecnología, en la actualidad conocemos un sistema de peridismo que para algunos es fenomenal y para otros destructivo. Es decir, la incorporación del periodismo participativo.
Según la Real Academia de la Lengua Española el periodismo es la "Captación y tratamiento, escrito, oral, visual o gráfico, de la información en cualquiera de sus formas y variedades" y participar es "Compartir, tener las mismas opiniones, ideas, etc., que otra persona". Pero con esta definición nos perdemos de la unión de ambos términos y no llegamos a la aplicabilidad que éstos pueden tener en los mass media.
Es una forma de participar a diario en las noticias contingentes y trascendentales en el mundo, con la propiedad de que el ciudadano le da forma y opinión al hecho mismo; en su escencia. A muchos les molesta porque el periodista pierde tribuna y además porque en reiteradas ocasiones es más la opinión que el aporte informativo o de interpretación.
Pese a ello, es un método efectivo que han optado incluso algunos medios escritos en su versión digital para dar cabida a lo que piensan sus lectores. Si los parlamentarios no reflejan en las leyes lo que piensa la gente, entonces es el rol del periodismo como "cuarto poder" de entregar las herramientas apropiadas para que la información sea canalizada en forma correcta y con opiniones certeras sobre lo ocurre hoy en día.
Si los opinólogos lo hacen -aunque no existen como profesión ni definición- por qué el ciudadano no puede. Quién más que el público debe ser el "periodista participativo" si para eso no es necesario el título. Aunque deba existir un ojo maestro que seleccione a los mejores que opinan en un medio... ¿No sólo los blog existen no creen?
